Eveline Mirfin - Course Leader
Eveline is the mother of two grown-up children who have now “flown the nest”. Having worked as a qualified midwife for over 27 years, it seemed a natural progression to share her knowledge and experience by taking childbirth classes.
With this in mind, following retirement from midwifery she researched options for teaching childbirth classes and was really impressed with the Lamaze method, which followed her own thoughts on how childbirth classes should be taken. This is that the classes should be down to earth, informative and fun.
In April 2008 Eveline qualified as a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator.
Good birth preparation empowers couples to make informed choices, and to feel in control of their labours. Knowing many coping strategies enables to couples to choose which method is best for them and allows them time to practice them together in preparation for the big day. Learning about the process of labour enables them to understand what is happening and what their options are. The birthing partner has a very important role to play in the preparation and participation for labour, and this role is fully addressed during the sessions. Although we prefer that mum has a birthing partner present with her on the course, single participants are also welcome.
